Our Values & Beliefs

Grace and truth:

We seek to be like Jesus, who came “full of grace and truth” (John 1.14), upholding the ethics of the Kingdom of God without compromise, but in a way that imparts God’s grace and not condemnation.

A holistic approach to the Gospel:

We seek to minister to the whole person (body, mind and spirit) and to be responsible stewards of God’s creation (see Luke 4.18f.; Romans 8.19-25).

Evangelism:

We seek to be evangelistic in everything we do, confident that the Gospel is truly good news for all people and that our primary purpose is to proclaim it at every opportunity. This Gospel is not simply that God loves us, but that he showed his love by sending his only Son Jesus Christ into the world to save us from our sin. We are all called to repentance and faith in Jesus. (see Mark 1.15; Acts 2.38; Rom 1.18; 2 Corinthians 4.5).

Whaanaungatanga:

We endeavour to model our relationships as a church on that of the extended family/whanau, emphasising mutual commitment, respect, loyalty, Christ-like love for one another. We value all people equally, regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, wealth, education, vocation or marital status (see 1 Corinthians 12.13).

Active membership:

We expect all members to faithfully: pray for the Church; attend worship, church meetings and a fellowship group; and to support the church financially (see Hebrews 10.19-25; 2 Corinthians 9).

Every-member ministry:

We take seriously the call to all members of Christ’s Church to be ministers of the Gospel, recognising that “all these (ministries) are activated by one and the same Spirit”.
